CPV Lab Redirect Profiles: The Exclude Method Tutorial
In this tutorial we’re going to create a redirect profile using the Exclude Method.
The Exclude Method involves redirecting all excess traffic to a global CPA offer, and sending only eligible top tier quality traffic to your main offer.
So, our desired outcome is: to send traffic that is not from a specific GEO to a general offer page.
Step 1: Add Additional Offer To Campaign
- First we’re going to go to an existing campaign in the CPV tracker and click on the campaign name to edit it.
- add an additional offer in the “Offers” section by clicking the “+ Add Offer” button.
- Select the drop down menu that says “Select Predefined Offer” and select an additional offer.
- you can also add the offer directly in the campaign page
- Set the “share %” to “0”
- this will tell the tracker that you don’t want to load this offer when traffic comes to the Campaign URL.
Step 2: Add Redirect Profile
- Scroll down to the very bottom of the page, until you reach the “Add Redirect Profile” area.
- Add a name for your redirect profile.
- For the Exclude Method we’re going to leave the “AND” “OR” operator at its default setting (default value).
- These operators establish the connection between the conditions.
- IF you select “AND” then all the conditions you will select next will apply
- IF you select “OR” as operator, then if only one of the conditions you add next is valid, then the redirect profile applies.
- Select the drop down menu that says “continent” and select “country” to redirect users based on their geographical location.
- Here you find all the fields on which you can add a condition for: country, city, browser, device model, custom tokens, etc.
- Next, we’re going to select the drop down menu that says “is” and change it to “is not“.
- This will allow us to redirect any users outside of our selected location to a separate offer.
- This is the condition for our “Exclude Method”
Select the “select items” drop down menu and exclude the country you’d like to prevent this redirect from being activated in.
Example:
- If our primary offer is in the United Kingdom
- then we would want to exclude the United Kingdom so that only people outside of the UK are redirected to the alternative offer (or landing page).
In the ““THEN” – select redirect destination” area we’re going to select how we’d like to redirect the users.
- For this example we’re going take them directly to an affiliate offer without using a landing page by selecting the “Offer” radio button setting.
Now, we can select the offer we’d like to redirect visitors to.
Save the campaign, and we’re finished 🙂
Redirect Model:
- The Exclude model:
"IF" a visitor ----- > is not from the UK ----> "THEN" Redirect them to offer B.
- The multiple condition model:
Campaign URL: Now your campaign URL will redirect users based on their geo location.
Step 3: Testing
To double check and make sure your redirect profile is set up correctly it’s you can test your campaign URL with a VPN like VPN Shark.
- just open your VPN (we recommend Surfshark, but others will do as well).
- load the campaign URL in the browser
- check what offer is loaded based on the location you select with the VPN
